Terre del Barolo winery was founded on December 8, 1958 by Arnaldo Rivera, a distinguished teacher and mayor of Castiglione Falletto, and 22 growers in the various villages in the neighbourhood. The number of partners soon grew to 40, and by the first harvest in 1959 there were already 362 members. Located in Castiglione Falletto in the heart of the Langhe, today the winery brings together about 300 growers who own more than 600 hectares of great vineyards in the villages of Grinzane Cavour, Serralunga, Monforte, Diano d’Alba, Barolo, Novello, La Morra, Verduno, Roddi and Castiglione Falletto. These grapes are vinified following traditional procedures using modern technology. The main focus is for Barolo docg, which undergoes the main part of its maturation in French and Slavonian oak casks, and represents the highest volume; smaller quantities of wines produced with local grapes (Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto) are available as well, included the renowned little appellation Verduno Pelaverga and Nascetta di Novello.
